Dortmund University of Technology

The Technische Universität Dortmund (TU Dortmund) was founded in the late 1960s. For a University, this is still quite young. One will find that it has retained much of that same dynamic energy which has led to the founding. Our programs are innovative and interdisciplinary. There is a large number of international students who add to the exciting atmosphere on campus. In fact, some 3,000 of our 22,000 students are degree-seeking students from abroad. There are sixteen different departments offering study and training opportunities in the natural sciences, engineering, economics, business administration, education, social sciences, theology, humanities, and journalism.

The fact that the University itself has been designed from scratch has formed a compact campus on which any institute or lecture hall is merely a footwalks distance away. Nevertheless, the campus is not confined but integrates tightly with the Technologiezentrum Dortmund. This partnership in the direct neighbourhood has attracted many hightec companies since the 1980's and now enabled direct links between industry and University. Common projects, internships and easy placement of the degree holders are some of the beneficial aspects of this conglomeration.
